Thread: The rescue that almost did not happen

Real life is not like Hollywood. Some how with a collective effort of like minded people suitably trained , good results can be achieved. Even with chaos all around. One reason why the military trains and trains ad nauseam and why it so important to those you may be working with , who ever that may be , to all be on the same page.

The rescue was something that none of large the organisations involved, whether Thai of from outside, had actually trained for. Basically, until the British cave rescue people arrived, nobody there really had much idea of what they needed to do or how to do it. And this small number of people, that were not in uniforms, and most people had never heard of, were for a day or two not listened to. But to the credit of almost all of those involved in the rescue, they were listened to, with results that went far beyond the expectations of even the experts.

I think that several of the large organisations involved, especially the Thai Navy, have taken the experience to heart and are incorporating the lessons learned into their training.
