Thread: Help fitting my head unit + Ipod cable

Your installation cost $2200 including GPS?

My installation would be very similar to yours, camera in the car plus one for caravan with Ipod interface, DVD/CD and radio.

Head would be Pioneer, Clarion or Kenwood all with 6 to 7" screen

I looked today for a head plus 2 cameras in Perth and got prices between $2,000 and $4,000 but GPS was always in the region of $2,000 on its own.

When I said that was a bit steep as you can get standalone GPS for less than $1,000 I was told in WA that's the way it was.

I am now talking to a highly recommended installer and may source the product myself and get him to install it so I was wondering who your source was for the components.

Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Mate I got the gear from JB Hifi. you can get ste same stuff off ebay and the send it for indoneasia but you only get a 1 year warranty and they will charge you for removal and replacement if the is a warranty issue and you have purchased elsewhere. I opted to extend trhe standard warranty to 5 years on both the Head Unit and Vehicle Dynamics Processor for an extra $150

    Thanks.

I was particulary interested in the GPS you mentioned 2 questions:

    1. What system are you running?

    2. Is it integrated to the head?

    regards

I am currently running a NavMan System that is Intergrated into my PDA and talks to a GPS reciever via Bluetooth.

The Pioneer system also have a Gps Reciever built into the Vehicle Dynamics Processor that has full street mapping software to be released later this year.

That makes sense as I was told that it was not currently available but would be soon.

I will go into JB to see what they have on offer.

    Thanks for the info

    regards

Steinzy, I was considering trying to use my PDA to run GPS but know nothing about it. I have a Toshiba e310 PDA but am not sure how I would go about setting up GPS through it or even what it would cost - any suggestions or ideas?
