Yes it was hardly a ‘heat wave’ down here. It was hotter on the 6th-7th of December.

The great benefit of living near Warrnambool is the cool change late afternoon. Though the fluctuating temperature is exhausting at times.

I've never heard of Evans, Ryan, nor Carter. I think Edinglassie house has gone. Edinglassie is a retirement village now. The old church is still there and in use. It's at the end of my street. Forbes St is the next street parallel to mine.
WestBank is still there and was restored by a chap I know. He spent ages stripping pain to off the cedar doors and restoring them. He was distressed when he sold the house and the new owner painted the door. There is a WestBank Street nearby.

Lowers owned Farley and Lewers concrete - their big pink concrete mixers were a common sight around the region years back. The gallery is in walking distance an we sometimes go there or brunch or coffee. We used to go more often until the council banned dogs even though there was never an issue with dogs according to the cafe owner. There's more of a problem with kids in the gardens.

Got to a very humid 42 in East Kurrajong this afternoon. Fires just down the road at south Maroota. The temp dropped 20 degrees in about half an hour and now steady rain and that horrible humidity has gone..

    Japan ...

I flew back to Melbourne from Tokyo on Thursday night. Overnight lows where I was staying near the Alps were around -5/-6, frozen puddles etc. Got back into Melbourne at 8.00am Friday and it was already 28 degrees, went out to put covers on the car windows a couple of hours later and our front door knob was hot to the touch and it's under a verandah and never gets direct sunlight. So, bit of a contrast.
