    Idiots on motorbikes

    Rant............

SWMBO and I went for a quiet county drive up to Mt Tamborine this morning. Steep, winding, 60 kph limit drive up, double lines most of the way. I'm doing 60 or there abouts with a car in front and 3 Harley type bikes behind. One K to go to the top.

The first bike passes me on the double lines on a (say) 200m straight. Illegal and no need for it but there you go. Next is a woman, passes on a LH bend (so it would be a blind corner for her) on doubles only to find a car coming the other way. She had a second or so to come back over in front of me and makes it. 3rd is a bloke with a female pillion, over the doubles again on a blind (for him) LH bend where he finds a dual cab coming the other way; he swerves back across and scrapes the foot peg, spark flying and the rear wheel skitters right for a sec, then he straightens a bit and gets over with a split second to spare.

The three idiots (can't blame the pillion) then roar off.

SWMBO's left horrified and I'm fuming.

This is not the first time I've seen this behaviour. Why?

I think I will give in and buy a dash cam.......

I've found scraping the pegs causes bruising to the neck and shoulders.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Hardly Riders say no more .
Their interpretation of lane filtering obviously

No there is no need to ride like that except they can and do and will keep riding in a dangerous manner until god forbid the unexpected happens

And not just the hardly riders either, last trip out of Marysville we came across a group of sport bike riders that were overtaking us around blind corners with wet roads and wet bark that had blown of the trees all over the place. Also came around one bend to find a couple of blokes standing by the very bent remains of a compact mercedes that had a disagreement with a tree.

As I said, I've found scraping the pegs causes bruising to the neck and shoulders.
There's no shortage of Euro riders carrying on like dicks.

    Idiots on motorbikes

Like everything there can be a peer/pack mentality.
Push bikes, motorbikes, 4wheel drives etc.
I have an older but still quicker than most, bikes.
It is common for me to find a particular style of American bike rider behave (around me) like... well I just don’t get it.
Uncommon from Euro/Jap bikes when I’m riding. However overall think bikes in groups tend to be operating beyond their riders capabilities or any individual sensibilities.
But then I find pretty much the same from some “typical” 4x4 types when the Defender shows up too.
Maybe it’s the perceived status symbol? Don’t know why some folk do what they do no matter what their choice of machinery.
For these type of riders, the joke of temporary Australians is a sad truth realised by mates left behind.
Makes it easy for bad drivers to wipe out bad riders.
You do your best and shakes your head.

I am pretty certain that i have seen Far more "Idiots" in cars/4WD's than i have seen Idiots on bikes on the road over the last 5 decades of driving around this country
Stupid behavior is not only in the realm of bike riders
