I’m not so sure motorist are out to kill motor bike riders......

The percentage of car v bikes on the road is like lots to none......

When looking in rear vision mirror Bikes are are a fraction of the size of cars and quite often blend in well with traffic which makes it difficult to pick up.

I’ve been caught out, generally a wave of acknowledgement the rider seems happy enough.

I reckon riders are game with lane filtering at times.....

There aren't too many that stick to the lane filtering speed limit

I didn`t say cars were out there to get bike riders that is how i treat them ,
The only driver i trust is myself
If i filter it is only at lights to save from being rear ended

X2. Well, that and my file at RPA weighs about 10Kg.
And I'm so silly on a bike that I just don't trust myself anymore.

Thread could just as easily be called ignorant dickheads in landrovers.... just saying.

try to keep some balance. There are always a minority in every demographic who defy logic and reasoning.

Roads are to be shared, despite the cyclists riding 4 abreast on a national highway when they are supposed to ride single file, or the idiot ute driver who has to squeeze his hilux between a powerpole and a b-double trying to turn left, when the b has the right to take more than a single lne to negotiate a tight corner at a set of lights.

or the bike rider who rightfully uses the correct and safe position in his lane, only to be run off the road by a landrover defender driver who cant remember safe driving habits like mirror, indicator, shoulder-check. Hey, if I can do it in my RRC, so can you lot when im on my bike.

only motorcycle riders are acutely aware of how vehicle driver behaviour directly affects your riding and your defensive skills - particularly in commute traffic, where every car driver in sydney turns into a selfish ***** for the hour + it takes them to drive to their crappy carspace near work.

Whether I drive or ride, the attitude is the same. Even with my low tolerance for fw drivers and riders on the road, we all know who will eventually get the rough end of the pineapple, and who will walk away unscathed...

So think about that next time youre ****ed off in your car because a guy on a bike kicked your mirror off your door.... you probably deserved it for repeated ignorant asshole driving.

if i can drive and share the road, so can you. And getting uptight about lane-splitters or whingeing about a bikes ability to leave you for dead at the lights is just a sign of your own inadequacies and Your focus on your own selfish first world problems.

learn to accept that there are idiots out there on the road - and they come in all forms of vehicle. Learn to know the behaviour and avoid them - give them a wide birth.... truck, bus, car or bike... just let them go and perpetuate reality with their own personal contribution to Darwinism - god knows we need to let the idiots meet their maker.

there are more important things to worry about...

like should i put a bigger winch on my range rover.... or can i fit a second fridge in the back and keep the spare tyre... or.... hang on, is that rust?

There's nothing wrong with trying to straighten out some twisting roads....depends who is watching you. And it still feels just as good as it did 45yrs ago.

No, there's nothing wrong with straightening out the twisty bits, but as the original poster stated, they overtook on double lines and that's the crux ........ illegal, no matter what spin is put on it.

I, like most, try to be rider/driver/idiot aware, the thing with bikes is you need to be doubly aware, as one second they're not there and the next they are. Cars are easier to see.

Tis how I find it anyway and pleased to say I've never hit one yet.

More to the point, SWMBO and I (and the oncoming driver) were a split second away from having to deal with the aftermath an idiot and his passenger being in a head on with a dual cab, all because said idiot was being......an idiot.

If he wanted to nominate for the Darwin awards then fine, but he has no right in involve his passenger or anyone else.

I'm guessing a set of Bose speakers are part of the package to boom out 'potato potato' ?
