Ah ha. You must be... 'Chief of Air Force then?'Not having anything to do with aircraft directly,
That I can understand, remembering the delayed opening of the present Adelaide Intl. Airport yonks ago.Same with fuel farm systems. Once a week the entire farm needs to be circulated. Fuel test carried out once a fortnight while circulating and the lists go on.
People were departing from the old Terminal heading OS & expecting to arrive back at the new one, but you may or may not recall it took months to clean out the (builders ??) crap in the various pipelines. Who really needs a bag or two of Brighton Speed Set heading for the fuel tanks of a new 737? I know I know, they have filters, but it did take a long time to clear this muck out until someone could actually sign off on the place at long last.
Here you go.
Terminal frustration at Adelaide
Well past its use-by date, it's frayed and tatty, many of the shops are closed, and the terminal's airconditioning barely coped with the weekend's searing temperatures.
Just reading that link through again makes me wonder why Evaporative Coolers were chosen for the old Terminal ?
Two km from the seafront & a lot of glass. It has to be humid before you start. Coincidentally, I was working for the installation co at the time & recall asking that very question.
Answer. "Because that is what the DCA wanted."
