Is the Trailer axle over or under the springs? If under, you can refit it over, & that will lift it.
This is most likely in the wrong place but I need some advice.
I bought a cheap used semi camping ready box trailer the other day, the idea is to store our camping stuff in it and then just take it with us, instead of having to pack the defender everytime we go.
My issue is the ride height of the trailer, the angle in the picture doesnt look bad but thats due to my drive being a hill and my car port being level, it sits high at the front and the rear is low and close to the ground. I dont want to lower the tow ball on the defender, so I need to lift the trailer if possible.
I also dont need to make it into an off road trailer, as much as I would like to I am not going to take it to Fraser, for that I will have to pack the car :-(
The other issue I have is I was considering putting my roof top tent on it, that way I could get it off the car and give us more flexibility when using it, my problem there is the height again. I want to use the annex on the tent so we can have the kids in the tent with us, but I need at least 1.75m in height and I only have about 1.5m. It has corner stabelisers which can lift it but not by enough and I dont know if I would lift it off its wheels then sleep on top of it, they are probably best just used for unstable ground.
So to the questions:
Is it possible to lift the ride height of the box trailer?
Has anyone added more height to the top of a box trailer, i.e. addiditonal roof rack or so on. It would obviously still need to be safe and stable.
Any advice would be appreciated.
thanks

Assumign its unbraked, they are really quick and easy to change to sprung over. I've run mine like that for a long time now with no dramas. It sits flat behind the Disco. I also have 4WD tyres on it, these also needed new 4WD type mud guards to be put on it.

I have also flipped the axle on my 6x4 to get it to ride flat behind my RRC. Took maybe 30mins with a beverage in-between the flip. There is also enough room in the guards for a bigger tyre if I chose to. Just make sure you fit mud flaps so the authorities have nothing to pick on.

remember that you will get the height of the axle plus the height of the spring difference.

I just flipped the axle, was very easy and I have gained 3.34" in height. I am very happy with that.
But I do need more for the annex but I will try and get this from the roof rack now.
Since I had it all apart I took some photos, it looks like it may have had longer springs at sometime, there is a spring mount that is part of the A-frame not being used, and from what I have read it is better to have the a-frame go all the way and welded to the spring mount. I will need to see if I can use this somehow, perhaps get bigger/longer springs.
Thanks for the advice, I will now see if I can get bigger wheels or land rover hubs for it, I have a couple of spare wheels for the defender. I would also like a longer draw bar so I can mount a tool box, but that will be a jobe for a trailer place or welder.
Thanks for the help!
cheers

The last time I priced LR hubs for my trailer they were in the $80 a side pile. That could have been due to my location, but it wasn't something I ended up persuing.
I will leave it for a future trailer in a 7 or 8x5 where I could actually achieve a similar wheel track to the Rangie.
Can't see the damn thing behind me as it is.

I couldn't see in the pics, but did you flip the spring bolt also? The bolt head is what the axle locates on and the excess threaded bolt can prevent the axle from seating on the spring properly if its not also flipped.
