A few years ago, I was on a job that needed a bulker bag of brickies' brew lifted to the top of the building. The sight foreman ordered a ten tonne roughy, knowing it was up to the task. The roughy was already out, so the crane company sent a six tonne city crane, with the assurance it could do the job. The crane arrived with a learner at the controls and the doggy as instructor.
The bag hooked, lited and slewed, at full reach, with the computer switched off, when the dogman realised that the bag could be landed where required,except for the fact that there wasn't enough reach to clear the protruding scaffold.
In a panic, he yelled "STOP!", which the operator did immediately. Unfortunately, the two tonne of loam and cement acted as a pendulum, dragging the crane over and ripping the scaffolding down.
Bugger.
