Report I heard on the radio (most likely an ABC station, as I was out bush at the time). said Phil was driving, with his Protection Officer in the passenger seat. Phil suffered a few knocks and bruises, but was cleared to go home by the responding ambulance crew. His, and the other peoples injuries were all classified as "minor".

I'd hazard a guess that the Freeo was the royal equivalent of a "paddock thrasher" and was replaced with a similar dunger from one of the other estates.

The report went on to say that Phil was probably going to be restricted to driving only on the estates from now on. Whether that was from the Police, or from the Royal Missus was not made clear!

Anyway, I for one, am glad the old feller came through okay. Always had a soft spot for the non-PC codger!

I wonder if his new nickname now is "Flip"

He is a witty and funny old fella, be interesting to hear what his opening comment was to Mr Plodd after the event.
To be fair he has probably been doing a good job still driving at 98 not out.
This is a vehicle orientated forum, so it's assumed we all love/enjoy driving.
I wonder how many of us will hand our Driver's Licence in without a grumble when the time comes.

    Cheers, Mick.

Every time out on the road there is always some idjit that could pressure me to do just that. [Jacky Gleason] One daaaaaaaay, Alice.[jacky gleason]

As for his words to Mr Plod, probably something about he was using the Rule of the Road at Sea, while the other driver was using the one for land Based vehicles or something just as daft.

While, on the face of it, he appears to have failed to give way, there is always the possibility that the other vehicle was, for example, travelling far faster than expected (or legal). There seems to be an assumption that just because one driver is elderly, then he is the one at fault. Worth pointing out that the statistics show that the most dangerous age for drivers (by a wide margin) is 17-25, not over 80 or even 90!
