Incidentally, since we're discussing Australia Day, and following the recent discovery of the grave of Matthew Flinders, this might be time to mention that some historians believe Flinders was gay.
He got married, then immediately sailed away for years, spending his time with his best mate, who was actually his mate, and his cat, which was the first cat to circumnavigate Australia.
He went home to London just in time to write his book and then died. His wife hardly knew him.
Would our social conservatives be shocked if our famous explorer was gay? After all, there was a lot of buggery going on on sailing ships in those days, with large crews crammed into small spaces.
    Thought for the day.
Well, using those criteria, Cook was gay, Bligh was gay, Nelson was gay, and so on. Hardy I'm not sure of. Did he kiss Nelson on the lips , with a toungy, or just a peck on the cheek? Actually did you know sodomy in those days at sea in the Navy was regarded as a hanging offence? Mind you I guess what happens in the bosuns store, remains in the bosuns store.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Ah, so you know about the Bosun's Store then, and that Bosun?

Btw, there is a school of thought that has him saying "Kismet Hardy" which has an entirely different meaning. ('It is fate') Opinions seem to vary on this.

If one was a bit weird he could have even said "Kiss my hardy"

Soooo apart from the rescue what else have these two lads done?? Serious question....

Not disagreeing with them getting the award just wondering if they’ve done much outside their day to day work.

thinking about this over the last few days. yes it was a once off thing and they happened to be in the right place at thr right time.

what i think they got the award, is because they showed part of the Australian spirit. helping someone out in need.

Thats the usual attitude with these things...

Dont back "invasion day" = rasict
Disagree with gay "marriage" = homophobe
    Eating meat = animal cruelty
    And so on...

All these professional protesters are more fascist than the people they are protesting against.

I thought it was because she had a rant and accused Aborigines of being child abusers?
Some are, of course, but there's so much child abuse in the general community that we're not in a position to finger particular ethnic groups when it's a problem everywhere.

Well no, and no. A dying man may say things that can not be heard correctly. Kismet , regarding Nelsons career, is seen as the most likely . Look, you seem to be focused on that act, I have to say, I don't care if you marry your boyfriend. It's your choice now.

Yes, definite load of OLD codswallop. But old mate Kerri Anne from Sandgate, Spoke truthfully. However she threw a blanket over all, to the delight of the real racists.

That's not what they were protesting against - what they were protesting against was this exchange:

"On Monday's program, Kennerley said 'Invasion Day' protesters were not doing anything about sexual violence in remote Indigenous communities.

"Has anyone of them been out to the outback where children, babies, 5-year-olds are being raped. Their mothers are being raped, their sisters are being raped, they get no education. What have you done? Zippo," Kennerley said, to which Stynes responded: "I'm sure that's not even faintly true Kerri-Anne and you are sounding quite racist now", eliciting boos from the audience."

That's a pretty inflammatory comment by Kennerley and good on Stynes for calling her out on it.

Perhaps you should check what was being protested against before posting? Kennerley accused Invasion Day protesters of turning a blind eye to the rape of children, which is a perfect example of the attitude you appear to be condemning, i.e., "I'm going to libel everyone I don't agree with".
