I have a Victa corded electric mower I bought second hand several years ago. The mower itself works just great and chews through almost anything like a circular saw. The main challenge is in moving the long power lead around the lawn without running over it. I have actually set the mower height so the blades can run over the lead without hitting them, but I still don't want to test my theory. [bigsad]
Obviously you are concerned about the cord being "sucked upwards" in to the blades?
Why not get a SHORT piece of similar cable & if not game, wear rubber soled footwear & rubber gloves & try it? A longer one would have more resistance to lifting.
Also make sure you have an Earth Leakage Cct Breaker installed which should be done as a matter of course if you are using electric powered equipment in the garden, or elsewhere.
No I'm not that brave. But I am very careful not to run over the lead. Battery powered mowers are much cheaper now.
Well, you won't need to worry about running it over twice if you do it once.[biggrin]

If you have RCD’s fitted to your house, nothing happens when you run over the lead - ask me how I know this... 😇. Done it with my Mums mower and my next door neighbours hedge trimmer I borrowed one day. Lucky I’m a Sparky and fitted new leads to them.Quote:

I saw Ryobi's electric mower in Bunnings the other day for $590 from memory. That's broadly competitive with many petrol mowers.

Saw a Makita wheel Barrow in the hardware shop.
Two batteries, three wheels, brakes and a headlight.
This is of course after I have barrowed many tons of soil, sand, gravel etc up the hill behind the house.
Now, with a nice cement path up the back, it would do that very nicely.
But wait, it is nearly all done, so I don't need it anymore.
Drats.
