Oxford! Pfft! I use the Macquarie as any good Aussie should. It only has "trey".

    There were 2 trays/treys to a Zac, & 2 Zacs to a Deener & 2.5 (?) Deeners to a 2 bob piece, (a Florin 2/6d or half a Crown, a Crown being 5 bob), & I very vaguely recall seeing once, a 5/- piece( a Crown), but not in my pocket.
A ten bob note (the orange one) & a quid note (the green one) There was a Blue one but that was out of my reach, 5 quid I think.

Then Decimal **** came in & took the fun out of it all.
Nope. A florin was two shillings, not half a crown. I don't believe Oz ever had a half crown coin unlike Britain.

Or is that bad punctuation and the florin mentioned above refers to the 2 bob?

I had farthings when I was a kid.

    It could be.

On the Full Fat Range Rover forum www.ffrr.com another one is "deplorable" when referring to the deployable side steps.

Oh, maybe it's not a spelling error!

Didn't the Hansom Cab driver moan at you for presenting such a large denomination that he couldn't change?

You're right, a Florin was 2 deeners, or 2 bob.

According to the late lamented Michael Bentine the earth is square.
In fact, most of the highest points are diametrically opposite, sort of justifiying that.
