How come, in all the photographs, we don't see Carp ? Any one else noticed that?
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
Carp can survive quite easily in water with very little oxygen.
Damned resilient fish, them mud-suckers!

They were there in some of the footage.
There was a shot of a mirror carp too (different scales).

I don't know a lot about this, but I have seen it on the TV News, and it is, imho, heartbreaking, just a terrible situation, dead & dying fish in their thousands, and yes there were carp involved as well. It must be awful for people living in affected areas.
I ain't no environmentalist, but this shocked my wife & I.
Pickles.
The Australian fishing community is tottaly discusted with this and other fish kills that are a direct result of the missmanagement of our river systems and the votors that are fisherfolk number in the Millions Not the hundreds or thousands so the various governments involved in this debacle can expect to see a direct backlash in the various State and Federal elections in the future.
Most of us fisherfolk are a pretty "unforgiving" lot when it comes to people destroying our fish stocks and our marine and freshwater environments and none of us believe for an instant that this situation is unavoidable and has been caused solely by the drought.
The local MP's May think that their local constituents/financial supporters are more important than the health of the river systems But the fishing fraternity is a FAR more powerful voter base![]()

You may need to consider the ongoing drought/dry conditions in one of the major catchment areas of the system, namely the Condamine River catchment. Been a bloody long time since we had a decent flood event up here. The Condamine river system is a major feeder to the Darling River, which in turn is a major feeder of the Murray. Any shortfall in any of these systems has a knock-on effect downstream.
I know I wouldn't like to be making decisions about water allocations to the vast number of businesses, individuals and communities that rely on the rivers for their livelihoods. Especially given the number of self-styled experts and Eco-warriors howling from the sidelines, and grabbing all of the media space available, thus preventing a lot of truthful reporting from being heard.

Photos reveal Queensland cotton farms full of water while Darling River runs dry
Further north in Queensland the Condamine River is relatively full, then south of a big irrigated property there is just a patchy river,
You don't have to be a rocket scientist to work out where the water is going
