Woe is me!

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but since vaccination has been discussed, here's an example of why its so important for at least 95% of the population to be vaccinated.

Very important for herd immunity as vaccination doesn't always give you full immunity (especially to those with rundown immune systems) but it helps keep the disease out of the community (herd) so those with low immunity don't get it.

I hope the vaccination helps John a lot of these viral diseases are worse as adults and shingles is terrible I understand.
I caught hand, foot and mouth from my daughter, she had a slight fever and some small blisters that cleared up in a few days. I had two weeks off work, hands that could barely hold a fork and a reaction to the anti-histamines I took to help with the itching which resulted in a trip to hospital. Apparently they vaccinate for it in Europe but not here for some reason.

I think I am on the mend, although I won't know for another few weeks whether there is any residual neuralgia.

I am going to ask the question. What is "hand, foot and mouth"? I know foot and mouth occurs in cattle and sheep.

It is a virus that mostly young children get. Symptoms are a fever, sores in the mouth blisters on hands and feet.
The blisters can become fairly severe and irritated.
