Hasn't been a locally based product for years, and even the teams are controlled by overseas interests, Dick Johnson Racing my arse.
    Cheers Baz.

There is no longer any "Dick Johnson Racing", the name of the team is there for all to see, and that team is "DJR Team Penske", and it's one of the most, if not THE most, popular teams in the comp.
And, whether anybody likes or appreciates it or not, Dick would more than likely not be on the grid had Penske not become involved. Dick, on many occasions, has been the first to admit that.
But for sure you're right about "overseas interests", 888 is also a multi national company, so is Ford, so is Mobil, so is Castrol, in fact I don't see many solely "Australian" companies running a top line team.
It's always been the same. When Moff was running his Trans Am Mustang, Ford U.S. GAVE him the Mustang, & He was sponsored by Coca Cola, a U.S. Company, so not much has changed, and who could not forget that Brock got all of his money from U.S. Giant Phillip Morris, until that became unfashionable.
So, IMHO, there's always been a very substantial overseas involvement in our tin top racing in whatever form it has taken, obviously because these companies can see value in their involvement. Same with Penske......all Aussie guys running the team,....He's simply supplying the backing, and If ya've listened to him, He's very happy about it, and particularly with Scotty, his No 1 driver.
    Pickles.
