Quick question - Sheepyard Flat Road condition

    Hello Brains Trust !
Has any of the well travelled Aulroians been to Sheepyard Flat in the last couple of weeks ?
i need to do an overnight stop and camp .

But the vehicle is not a 4wd or even an suv - it’s a Car .

So was wondering if the road from Merrijig was chewed up and or rough .

    Thanks in advance

Can't say for sure .. but it shouldn't be.
Unless they've had earthquakes in the area!
Tthe road is a standard gravel road, no major obstacles, like crossings and suchlike.
Friend easily got his late model Audi A4(some ultra low sports version of one, wayy too low for my liking) to Sheepyard and even the drive to Fry's.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

I haven't been into Shipyard / Frys for about 12 months - having just sold my Land Rover , now i have to think about road conditions prior to an adventure not during !

LOL! sold the LR and go on an adventure .. sounds counter intuitive.

Anyhow, the road in is best described as a gravel road .. 2WD, pretty much all weather type.
Track to Frys is just a lumpy gravel track, some parts may scrape a low slung car, like a sporty Audi.
Brocks Rd(once in over the bridge at Sheepyard) heading east - northeast up the mountain is pretty much 2WD for the most part, till you get up really high at Bluff Hut area.
IMO, not worth doing. Fry's is a nice sightseeing spot.

ie. up to about 8 Mile(camp). Tunnel bend could be an interesting sightseeing spot, but in reality not much to see there.
That is, the cut out tunnel was a bit underwhelming.
Best camp spot in the area is Sheepyard just to the left of the bridge. Even a small sandy beachy spot at the river if you have little ones that want to paddle in the river.
River is generally shallow, but some deep spots to be mindful of.
    Arthur.

If you're just looking for an overnight camp, I'd recommend one of the small campsites on Buttercup Ck in preference to Sheepyard Flat.

Buttercup Rd runs alongside Buttercup Ck which is NE of Merrijig. There are four or five small sites each with a longdrop loo. Being small and not as well known as Sheepyard they are seldom crowded or overused. Easy access to/from Mt Buller Rd at either Merrijig or Sawmill Settlement.

    Thanks to all suggestions !

Camped out at Carters Mill Campsite - slept in the back of my ute in a swag , was cool and yet cosy .
Woke early and headed to Mt Buller to do the Epic MTB Trail .

and it was Awesome ! !

Im a bit stiff sore and tired today but the scenery was stunning and the descent just goes forever - highly recommended .

Did the MTB a few years back, some interesting bits, I was going up though. The scenery up there is to die for, no argument there
