Well another set back today for Brendon, on Monday he was supposed to attend a week long course for the position the job provider sent him yesterday. Today he gets a phone call saying because he studied for 1 year in Japan (which was for an Australian university diploma), he was out of Australia with in the last 3 yrs and his foot print is unable to be tracked! Something about security , seems it must be too hard for Asio. So he is deemed ineligible at this time and next year he should be ok.

Can he appeal? His visa record would be known. If he produces proof of no criminal record in Japan that must mean something, surely?

He wont appeal, because this job was only going to be a short term job while he waits for his answer from the Jet program, which is teaching English in Japan. He will know in about 5 weeks if he got the job. But going by the interview he had at the Japanese consulate last week it went VERY well. So he will just keep applying the 20 job a month as required by Center Link. Heather

He had residency in Japan for 12 months and got finger printed on arrival. actually you get finger print scanned at the airport in case you steal hotel towels as souvenirs that can match the crime scene prints lol hence when I was there I only came home with cheap grog.( Which I paid for)

    Hope it goes well.
Jet is a well-known government-supported program I believe, so it could be very good experience for him and definitely lead to a career.
Wonder how long it will be before he scores a Japanese wife? I have several friends with Japanese wives who seem very happy together.

The jet program pays for the air fare to and return, they find you a unit to rent, I think they pay for about 3 weeks rent until you get a wage. He has applied for rural area, which will be cheaper living than in the big city.
He doesn't want a girl friend or wife at the moment he wants his career first this is what the 4 years of studying has been all about. He has work out his budget, the only thing is that between the terms (school holidays) he will not get paid so he has budget for that. When he went over in 2016 and studied there for the year, this has help him as he does know the cost of living over there. He is very good with money Heather.

Well after working for corporate sized outfits, or govt for the past 18yrs, I attended an interview with a 'one man band outfit' last Saturday. He told me his last employee ripped him off, I replied "I won't rip you off, if I am unhappy in my job or feel that you are ripping me off, I will leave, that is what I do". Anyway the interview went along those sorts of candid lines.

Later that afternoon, I had the job. I started Monday. Friday afternoon, he asked "how is it going", I told him I liked working for him but that I wasn't entirely satisfied with the pay rate. I received an 11% pay rise there and then, backdated to my start date. With another review in a couple of months.

Oh boy, how refreshing, after going through 6-9 months of application processes, and all the bull**** tests and hoops to jump through... to get into the bigger outfits....2yrs of negotiations to get a 2.5% pay rise in the bigger outfits...great to be working for an owner, and not a manager!

Nothing compares to talking to the man who writes the cheques and has them coming out of his bank account.
