Ah, Mr Diver, my comment was mostly TiC. Notwithstanding vets do need similar but far wider knowledge, yet as you rightly point out, the repercussions of an error are far less grave.
I had a GP who continually moaned that he shouldn't be working as such, as he was a heart specialist. This quack didn't know what Factor V was, or how to treat it. He asked what my previous medication was, then had to look it up on his computer as he was unfamiliar with Clexane. He then prescribed the wrong dose for over two years.
I'd feel more confident with a vet treating me than that Jaden Patel lookalike.

"Doctor" is a term for someone who possesses a Doctorate. Plenty outside the health industry, too.
Now I think about it, one of the worlds industry heavyweights has a title "DD." i.e. " Doctor of Divinity."

Your right Professor V8Ian. There are a few quacks in the Medical Doctor side. Any Medical Dr not knowing what Clexane is, especially a Heart specialist, would have me running away fast. I wonder if that Specialist got it from a a corn flake packet?

That quack disappeared suddenly and mysteriously, his (very short term) replacement was shocked that I'd been prescribed Clexane for so long. The permanent replacement wants blood tests at every visit and continually writes prescriptions for OTC medication, as if he lacks the confidence to accept responsibility for meds that actually work.
I have to travel 50km to see a real doctor!

One of my cousins is a Doctor of Engineering. Got it by several years of hard graft and research at Heidelberg. Most engineers with a Doctorate are a PhD or Dott. Phil if they went to Cambridge. The Europeans attach more prestige to a Doctor of Engineering than to a PhD which might be a Doctor of Uselessness in arts or literature.

Not sure that I agree with that premise, and putting to one side the utilitarian approach - I have a sibling with a Ph.D in philosophy, and one of the things they used to do was teach ethics to police - does that pass the "usefulness" test?

So my comment was not condescending, as by your own words some do have a Doctoral level degree (DVM) as I indicated in my post.

Sorry but most Vets who do not hold a DVM still refer to themselves as Doctor. I don't believe Dr Harry Cooper has a DVM nor does Dr Chris Brown yet both call themselves Doctor.

It would seem that some Doctors are not all they're quacked up to be.
There is a dangerous movement among a growing number of Chiropractors who claim that spinal manipulation can cure a raft of ailments via the spines connection to the Central Nervous System, which is utter quackery.
There is also a growing number of health professionals calling for Chiropractors to be banned from practising Medicine, as opposed to mere musculoskeletal manipulation.
