Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has ruled out decriminalising drugs despite a new report saying it would cut the state's record rate of incarceration and save hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars a year.

Have to chuckle at stubborn- Lock em up and train them to be bigger losers than they already are. ( Gosh I sound nasty with that one)

The real reasons is "The QPC found decriminalisation would improve the lives of drug addicts without increasing the rate of drug use.
Its report estimated that if reforms were implemented immediately, "the prison population would be between 20 to 30 per cent lower in 2025".


I honestly think Pollies are dumb as a lot of the time. I know that to be untrue. They just act in a stupid way to avoid pee ving really stupid people that vote for the WAR ON Drugs

My opinion is that persons caught with illegal drugs in their system should get a felony conviction, an automatic six months in a penitentiary not a country club. no suspended sentence, no parole, second offence twelve months, and doubled for subsequent offences, loss of driver's licence for life. Frighten Christ out of the customers and much of the market would dry up. Dealers, that is persons in possession of quantities deemed more than for personal use to get ten years first offence. I worked in the federal welfare system and we, the staff, were heartily sick of our offices being clogged up with these worthless bludgers, liars, cheats.

Hasnt worked any where else, even the death penalty is no deterrent, what makes you think it would work here, ya dreamin

It might keep a few out of the clink but it would cost the government millions in fines for possession etc..
Decriminalising rape, murder, burglary and armed robbery would save the prison system heaps. Who's prepared to legalise pedophilia to save a few bucks?

If the Government is going to decriminalise drugs they should also make it legal to grow your own tobacco instead of taxing smokers about $1 per smoke But hay that would cost them billions of revenue.
