If alcohol and tobacco were discovered/invented/introduced today, would they be made illegal?

Probably not Ian,'cos they wouldn't have the Clinical history that they have today.



But in say, a 100 + years time it could be a different story.

I reckon they would be.

Supposedly a bureaucrat in the then NSW RTA a decade or so back reckoned if motorbikes were invented the previous week they'd be banned before they could get on the road.

Thank your deity of choice there's some precedence overruling the nannies in the system.

I have heard a theory that a lot of people in prison for drug offences, were actually arrested on other charges as well, but plead guilty to a lesser charge of possession, and get a lighter sentence for not wasting the court's time, in America anyway.

But Rick he/she would have based that on History. Ian's "today" wouldn't have had any history until some poor bastard came/went a gutser.

Of that 9.3 billion i wonder how much goes to corrupt parties. Either through kickbacks or through direct sales!
Coppers, Lawyers, Judges, Elected officials etc.

Easy to look at the "user" and put blame but in reality its not the user importing millions and millions worth of drugs.
Its people with millions and millions to spare.

Blame the pushers not the users. Even if the pushers are wearing badges.
