Australian, and overseas scientists, convert CO2 back to coal, in a World first

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Australian, and overseas scientists, convert CO2 back to coal, in a World first

My God there are some bloody clever people in this country ( and others). This has to be great news for our planet. Should all be done without the need for easily corruptible Emission Trading Schemes too.

Brilliant. Now let’s hope this Australian innovation is not driven off shore, used as an excuse not to reduce emissions, or used as a way of burning coal twice!

Cures are usually more more attractive than prevention. Imagine if the cure were combined with prevention. ...I wonder when we’ll wake up to the fact that less is more in terms of utilising our planets resources.

On the face of it reckon it sounds brilliant but I tend to wonder how much energy the process takes. It would be a shame to hear that producing the energy used creates more CO2 than is converted.

At room temperature using liquid metals, why don't they just say mercury ?

If its viable tech the Australian Govt wont invest and it will be sold overseas .

because it doesnt have to be mecury. Caesium, rubidium, francium and gallium (although I Only knew caesium and gallium off the top of my head) are also on the list. Plus any alloys of those AND you can technically include any substrated mixture. Hell it could be chucks of DPF matrix finely ground and blended into francium and still count as a liquid metal catylist.
