The left (western) flank of the fire is about 2-3 Km north of us near Mill Valley Ranch for those that know the area and running down to the Princess Hwy just north of Bunyip. Had some spotting 'just over the hill' about 1/2 Km to our North. A bit nervous for a while.
The only upside was the free air show. I don't know much about aeroplanes but along with the usual helicopters there was a large 4 engined propeller plane (which I didn't think existed anymore), a four engined jet and a smaller two engined jet with turned up wing tips plus smaller planes at times.
Haven't seen these big planes today so assume they've been deployed further east and working out of Sale. A couple of larger helicopters with bambi buckets have made several flights over this morning.
My thoughts are with those to my east. Whilst bad enough it could have been absolutely catastrophic if the forecast south east weather change wasn't so weak.

Dean I'm very pleased to hear you are ok, I've been thinking of you. We are just a few km north-east of Drouin, we evacuated last night as the forecast wind was unfavourable for us. Thankfully it didn't eventuate and we returned this morning. We are in an elevated spot with a westerly outlook so our little road has been like Burke street for the past 3 days with rubberneckers, makes us feel very vulnerable to looting so leaving was a difficult decision.

Something out of a horror movie. Just read a news report, anti loggers tied themselves to a logging company's bulldozers and machinery, and so doing, prevented said machinery being used to manage the fires. Now, this probably happened before it all got out of control, but, WTF.Quote:
