    Question The Future

The current software is getting on and getting much harder to keep online

would be interested in seeing what forum software people prefer to use.

something this size needs professional software that is well supported so many of the usual culprits are not suitable including Vbulletin

i have been looking around and i consider the following the two prime candidates as i can get addons that give me the functionality i have here (at a cost i might add) and import them current system into the new

    1) IPS - has blogs etc etc BUT i would have to manually import subscriptions which would be a big task but doable

it would be a bit of a shift as it is laid out differently with an emphasis more on groups but AULRO.com did run on it for a few months at one time

NEOWIN is one of the bigger IPS boards if you wish to have a look at the style of it

    MLP is another

    2) Xenforo - subscriptions come in okay but lots of other things need manually sorting

IH8MUD is a large Xenforo board

    BEER Advocate is another

another option option is to start a fresh and leave the current system locked up and available as an archive and start out with new software and import bit by bit over time.

or should i just leave it as it is ....

a little constructive feedback would be appreciated if you can let me know what you think

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

MLP and beer advocate seem a bit FBooky to me,,(beer advocate had 1500 members online when I looked...)
I think IH8MUD looks ok,,,,, all opens up like I'd expect it to...
and it will link to every sort of social media known to man by the looks...

As others have said, what makes life easiest for you also with regard to economics. We all appreciate the work and decication you have shown to this place. There is an enormous amount of knowledge and information here and I don't think anyone wants to see that disappear. I don't have any knowledge of the software or what is invoved, however, I do frequent another 4WD forum (as others here may) that runs the Xenforo system and find that easy to navigate. But having looked at your examples it appears the layout can be manipulated to any desired design of the interface.

Sorry if that wasn't much help.

I like IPS for the layout, but as others have said whatever makes it easier for you.

The current software from an end user point of view is good, but if it is getting unmanageable move to whatever is best for you. Would be sad to start afresh as the archive of data is great for a newbie like me.
