    Roadworks + live traffic

Drove down to Yass today, and as recommended, checked to RMS website "live traffic" for any issues. One lot of roadworks, near Bowning on the Yass Valley Way.

On the actual drive, there were five lots of roadworks, one on the Golden Highway, one on Murombung Rd and three on the Yass Valley Way, including the one on the website. All has speed limits down to 40k, and three had stop/go traffic with flagmen. Two had no speed limit signs marking the end of the roadworks.

Sounds much the same as many road works signage here as well. Signs indicating the end of the works are either not put out or if they have been, are left there for ages. Probably until they need them on another job...
Then there's the flag persons (nicely PC that) ... a large sized oaf at the bottom of our road went to hit my Defender on the bonnet with the sign when I drove past him.
When I pointed out in not very polite language that he was showing "SLOW" he became very agitated. Perhaps if he hadn't been gobbing off to his mate and kept his mind on the job it would have helped.
Most are good, some are just idiots.

They did a couple of kays of resealing here a week back. Everyones gone but the 80 k signs are still up. Cars are doing 100 and I was wondering if you could be booked for speeding because the signs are still there.?

If it was in WA then the answer would definitely YES. The fact that there's no workers around won't bother the traffic cops at all as the speed signs are what you must obey at all times.
We had, up until not long ago, a "road safety commissioner" who loved to say that "Even 1 kilometre over is breaking the law". With idiots like that leading how can we ever expect an improvement on driver skills as they're spending all their time peering at the speedo instead of being alert to what's happening around them.

Generally live traffic is for works on RMS controlled roads and if a road being maintained etc by say local council it will not be posted to live traffic app/web site.

All except one of the works I came through are on RMS roads - Golden Highway and Lachlan Valley Way. The only works that are on live traffic were on Lachlan Valley Way.

It used to annoy me when I drove the Brisbane-Sydney shuttle on the New England highway that at nightime the roadworks signs and speed signs were still in place and the workforce were all tucked away in the pub or in bed. Yes, the NSW Highway Patrol in their war of harassment of truckies would apply the law at midnight where the signs had been left in place wrongly. RMS have a Code of Practice nowadays that say signage is to be removed outside work hours . Doesn't seem to happen.
