I don't mind recalls, so long as they fix the issue. It never effected Toyota's standing and they have had a lot.
There are a few things we all wish the Defender had been recalled for but it wasn't.
Having to change the tyres seems interesting!

Are you sure there will actually be a "new Defender" 'cos reading here I am beginning to think it is the figment of someone's vivid imagination?

    Just sayin'.

So they're tweaking the software to make sure all the vehicles comply with the CO2 levels JLR promised? That's good. VW should have done that.
Should not make any difference to the Defender program.

    VW should have done that.

They did, remember, albeit a bit late for them. I bet that little exercise cost them a motza in sales.

I reckon. Ruined the reputation of diesels in general in Europe. Was one of the reasons JLR's diesels sales are down, even though their engines didn't have the VW cheat software.

VW did the world a favour , Dieselgate bought an awareness that Diesel engines are actually not that good for the environment and now buyers are staying away from them like the plague.

Most owners wanted their money back, not their car fixed.

VW has learned is and winning back favour by moving forward transitioning toward 100% Electric .

Mind-blowing video shows Volkswagen dieselgate 'graveyard' of cars

Yes, a number of European cities are now moving to favour EVs to cut air pollution and improve health.
