    Jurgens in liquidatiion

I just heard today that Jurgens has gone into liquidation with the factory locked from a friend with one on order.

This joins Kimberley and Aussie Swag( including Camp'o'matic) Ultimate (which I believe has been rescued)

While Jurgens makes caravans the others are camper manufacturers , which I think maybe victims of Chinese market entrants.

    Regards Philip A

I’m not sure they are victims......

Although a few years ago we seriously looked at buying a Cross I Over van....and we found Jurgens one of the least interested/flexible in design change/layout.

Thought I read somebody purchased Kimberley, maybe it was just the IP.

Yesterday during a 600km Drive yesterday i called six semi-trailer trailer manufacturers for a options on custom trailer......Hammar said they would consult there engineers in Germany and may be able to come up with something and only one other got half interested, the other four were disinterested yet there websites indicate they do custom trailers. Would have thought companies would be looking for new business.

I’ve now engage the supplier I just travel with to China to see if the factory we visited would be interested. He is certain it will be a positive conversation and should have pricing in two weeks.

Sorry to hear that. They were a local branch of a South African company, is that right?
It's certainly hard to compete with the imports.

We found the same thing with most semi trailer manufacturers - a lot said they’d do custom but only one in the end would even quote us for some custom drop decks - that was Vawdrey who ended up getting the order and were great to deal with. Only a few KM from us too which was a bonus. That was a couple years ago now, so not sure if they’ve gone the same way as the rest?

As for all the camper and caravan crowds going under - the market is absolutely flooded now - far too many players for an over saturated market that’s starting to slow. There will be many more I think.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

    Have you tried Tuff Trailers?
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

My understanding was that they manufactured here. The SA parent company went into administration recently.

Jurgens, the largest caravan makers in South Africa.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
