I have had to use cereal packet cardboard at times and a bit of grease without any issues, gasket paper is a lot better though

Back in the day I seem to recall that it was oil for cork gaskets and kero for paper. Cut up manilla folders always worked well for me

Just a wee tale from the past (where else?)

There was A Brylcreem machine installed at the Adelaide City Baths, 1 shot for a penny.

If you couldn't afford it plus the tram fare home, one sucked the little spout & got a small gobfull & shoved that on your bonce.

Doing this one day when I felt a huge finger & thumb around my lughole while being pulled along towards the door which is a bit hard to disentangle oneself from when one's bonce is busy upside down & sucking madly..

Yep, the Manager type/Lifesaver had spotted my little plan & gave me a stern lecture & booted me out of the front doors.

Ungrateful sod, didn't he realise this juvenile tealeaf had adorned his front steps for years & helped pay his wages?

    Obviously not.

They must have gone through hundreds of gallons of the stuff over the years.

Please Note ****.. This is the very first published account of my embarrassing venture & up until now only my family were aware of it & the family joke it became. Now the whole world may know.

Now, that does sound familiar. Just a thought. He could have done me for nicking a pennyworth of Brylcreem & I could have him done him for Assault with Intent. The intent being he intended to toss me out of the door.

Years ago we did a bodgy job on an AC joint leak. Used chart paper. Surprised me, it worked. That's when I found out Navigators have absolutely no sense of humour.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Maybe it was a very critical portion of his chart showing rocks & stuff which you would have thought "Naaaaahh, he won't want that, it is just rocks?"

    Is there any other type?

We kept them going with chewing gum and fencing wire. [and the occasional spare part , sneaked from the stores bods when they were at their weekly smorgasboard .] Just kidding.

Jayzuz bob, you should know better than that. Fencing wire is ok for holding up your Daks in an emergency but is not the answer to repair high or low pressure gas leaks of any sort. You need aloominum foil for that, plus the aforesaid chewing gum.

    Just sayin'

NB. Do not try this at home children.
