I'm just going to say two things:
    1. The pic is great, she is terrific and the trolls are grubs
    2. CA has improved hugely since Homestar became the MOD.
    Come in and chat.

When sites can vet participants, you can get situations whereby only those of a particular bent get selected. It may not happen now, but in the future....? Democracy demands openness. What a load of utter Rubbish, ANYONE can access CA and IF you can put your "Petulance" and prejudice for open discussion aside for a moment you would see that there is No "Secret Squirrel" agenda going on in CA.

That's a good start. I have never thought there was secret squirrel business [ a term made famous by an ex RAAF member] I thought that a part of the forum that could not be seen by all, and used by known trolls, lent itself to a negative side. I guess I'm about to find out. And if you can put your arrogance to one side, could be an interesting experience.

No "Arrogance" intended Mate But you need to "Experience" CA so that you can make an "Informed" opinion before you "Bag" any discussion and the way Members of AULRO conduct themselves in this part of the Forum

Why do I see an image of Frankenfurter at the door when you say that? " just a step to the right..."

Keeping politics and religion out of general discussion on AULRO makes sense. However I also believe that certain cultural and social topics are wrongly confused with political and religious topics. Sweeping these under the carpet in a private forum goes against the importance of open public discussion. Subjects such as racial diversity, discrimination based on gender or sexuality, mental health are all subjects I believe should be openly, respectfully and publicly discussed.

IMO, in the context of AULRO it comes down to whether the forum is about only the mechanics of Land Rovers, or also about the cultural context in which these vehicles exist. I’m interested in both, but many don’t seem to be. Land Rovers are cultural icons in my view, which require more than mechanical knowledge to navigate. The Australian cultural context, it’s history and future are inextricably linked to the means by which we travel this country, particularly in terms of vehicles which are designed to do so across a diversity of terrain and which define our relationship to where we live.

As demonstrated by the strength of the wider communities reaction in support of respectful discussion around many of your topical posts, I believe it would be the right thing for AULRO to not shy away from such important public discussion.

However as I’ve stated previously I will be guided by the mods and will keep my discussion to Land Rover specific related discussion until further notice.

    Cheers, Zeros.
Cheers Zeros. I hear you. I have to admit my reticence to join the dark side stems from the discussions in general chat before CA was invented. Suffice to say my take on it is CA was invented to gather the abusive hateful members in one place, and quarantine them. I believe Homestar runs a tight ship. I will see. With the diversity of experiences of members it should be possible to have respectful discussion on AULRO, about many subjects. I also agree all of AULRO should be able to read public discussions, without fear of abuse, or hateful exchanges. I will join CA with an open mind. I just hope any intelligent conversation doesn't fall out.
