Was just thinking of him the other day as I spread plum jam on my toast and explained to my 8 year old, 'Only carry plum jam in the bush. If it leaks, it doesn't get sticky like strawberry jam and you can use it as a emergency gasket goo if you have to.'

A double cassette of his bush/4wd tips (like, always carry your rifle pointing at the floor) was what dad played in the Fairlane when we were on family holiday travels. Sadly, I think we lost that tape when the car was stolen once. We recovered the car, but Jack's cassette was gone. Those wretched thieves had good taste.

I had been watching some of his 80s stuff on Youtube just recently. Driving a stock Sigma wagon all over those tracks you need a modded proper 4x4 to survive nowadays. Marvellous stuff. He'll be missed. Respect.

I knew all of the Brushmen From the Bush...I used to call them the bastards from the bush ....because they were all old bastards.

I never managed to meet them all together , would have been a great campfire.

Jack could tell you a yarn about anything , then paint it.

The legends live on by the way.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

    RIP Jack, a true Bushy.
Love his recipe for Camel stew, his cook book goes everywhere we go camping.
