Plastic Storage Boxes - Anyone Other than Bunnings

    Hi All,

I'm after some decent plastic storage boxes for home but also useful for camping/use in the car.

Bunnings have some good ones which stack well (60L and 30L and 15L but cant find them on the website - might have stopped selling them) but have a lot which are pretty bad. The plastic is quite brittle and cracks easily. They have some decent hevby duty crates but they don't stack as they have curved lids.

Any one know where else is a good place to look. I'm in Sydney Inner West.

    Cheers

The Reject Shop sells good boxes of various quality - the black ones are UV stable but the clear ones will breakdown in UV after couple of years.

IMHO Bunnings is gradually turning into just another large-company owned junk shop driven by bean-counters.

Their sole interest would seems to be to sell stuff like you have identified with the only intent to maximise profits.

For example there are lots of carpentry and plumbing repair items they no longer carry because there is only "limited" demand. Suppliers bid for shelf space and hence we see junk on sale.

I would think that a supplier that serves business needs could be a better source. For example, the fishing industry uses lots of more rugged plastic containers which they seem to treat fairly roughly.

Expect to pay more than you would @ "bunnings"

Just eg. Plastic Containers, Stackable, Nesting and Food Grade

We've had good luck with Sistema brand containers from Woolworths. They're stackable and pretty robust. Bonus is that they're available in exactly the right size (height, width and depth) for our camper.

Try NQR. I purchased a dozen australian made plastic storage boxes with lids from there for $5.00 each a couple of weeks back. They are semi-flexible plastic (not rigid) so shoudln't break the first time you look at them sideways like the chinese **** offerings elsewhere.

I have bought several at Big W.

Very Durable but the plastic clamps on the lid can break if you are not careful.

Same issue. I have dozens of broken ones from Bunnings.
I get them from Officeworks in Victoria. They are much sturdier.

Our local "The Bolt Place" has a good collection of crates and containers. I think the 30/40/50 lt black plastic crates come with lids, are UV resistant and are made by Nally. I would imagine the tool and industrial suppliers would be much the same.
