"You have all seen what happens to the animals in an uncontrolled market if left to the producers. " Apologies if I misread it but from that remark from your post RB, it certainly looks as if you're accusing producers of guilty of anything if they weren't "controlled"!
We've all seen the horrific scenes shown from countries our livestock gets shipped to, but I personally don't think any single one of our farm people would do that to an animal.
AlanH.
You’ve made a blanket statement insinuating that if left untended, the “producer” would be incapable of behaving responsibly; as though they are incapable or unlikely to care about the welfare of their animals.
It’s that sort of crap that preys on the ignorance of the general public about how the ag sector truly operates. If you made a comment that on the basis of sex, race or gender it would be unacceptable
Don’t ruin an otherwise worthy post that you made by contaminating it with that last comment.
IF you actually knew what you were talking about you would Know that an animal that is killed "On Farm" goes through far less trauma than an animal that is killed at a meat works after being transported to the saleyards and then transported again to the meatworks.
Farmers are in the business of caring for their animals and that also applies when it comes time to kill one for meat, I doubt that ANY farmer takes any pleasure in it or holds any malice when dispatching an animal for meat or for any other reason.
Up until a few years ago I used to grow and butcher ALL my own meat and ALL the animals I killed were dispatched humanly and instantly, The same cannot be said for the animals that can take days to reach their final destination and end up on the supermarket shelves.
