    New Parramatta Stadium

    Here's a link.

NRL Bankwest Stadium: Inside Parramatta'''s incredible new $360 million stadium

I wonder how much attention has been given to fireproofing? Given that the Parra fans burnt down the stand at the old Cumberland Oval. Also good ventilation to remove the marijuana smoke.

Saw it in NRL 360 on Fox. Looks a beauty, 10,000 people to watch training, they expect 30,000 at the game. The story about the original stand is classic, the public burnt it down after Parra won the Grand final.[ it was being replaced any way, so a blind eye was turned.]

There was an article in the Sydney Morning Herald where Sterlo discussed the history of the ground, he mentioned that it is good to have been located on the same patch of ground as the Cumberland stadium - is it though? Pretty sure that it is now on the old swimming pool that they ripped out.

Speaking to someone in the education system and there is apparently an estimated 60,000 school age kids in Western Sydney that cannot swim. They ripped out the pool anyway. There are plans in place for a new one, but still waiting for a new one to be built.
Interestingly the Parra Leagues club didn't lose one square centimeter of land. Wouldn't want them to lose any parking spots.

That said the stadium does look good. However, it should have built it on the leagues club site and integrated the club and parking within the same building.

But... they never thought that was an option as they couldn't have survived without the pokies running the whole time.

I am interested to see how the regular attendance ends up after the novelty wears off. Do people (I am mostly thinking of families) still want to go see live games now that the networks have them scheduled as night games?

That stadium has been planned since the late 1970s, when I was working in Parramatta. They would never undermine the leagues club - it's a holy place.

Good point. Families don't want their young ones up late at night, the problem is TV reigns supreme. Although as a young bloke the walk from the station to the ground would be awesome. Much like Caxton Street. I'm sure a pool is important, you just have to convince your politicians.

Wow. We get more than that at a two up game in Vic.

Speaking of two up, it's Anzac Day on Thursday. Dawn Service, anyone?

Now that is why no one up here trusts Victorians.

If it's exYarra, it'll be a bit short, one end for Brisbane.
