New Defender Due Out?

Just a quick Saturday Arvo question - Is there a new Defender model comming out in the near future ? Maybe with the TDV6 ? If yes any piccies? Or maybe a link?

i wouldn't hang by the neck

but on the other hand... there is a rumor going around about a special order through M.R. Automotive there is brisbane for a new Defender 130 with the TDV6 in it and the 6 speed automatic installed. Supposedly only around the 60k mark

Still waiting to see if true or not... worth the xtra $10k and 6 month wait if correct

There is 'revised' Defender due later in the year. It gets a Ford 4 cylinder diesel bored out to 2.7 litres. Apparently you will be able to have the choice of a ZF 6 speed auto or manual 8)

The TDV6 is not coming to any factory Defender anytime soon (2010).

The reason for the new engine is because the TD5 can nolonger meet EU emissions.

The TDV6 is not coming to any factory Defender anytime soon (<2010).

There is nothing wrong with the TD5, except the fact that it was put in during BMW ownership and ford want to erase that all together. As a result the TD4 is also getting the flick from the Freelander and the TD6 from the rangie. Ford have said it wont meet emission standards but when BMW had these engines preped for use in land rover vehicles they were planned as a long time unit and further tightening of emission laws were thought about so that is codswollop, simply put Ford want to use engines from within the PAG.

As for the ford 4cyl engine its based on the TD from the Ford Mondeo and as Noddy said will be bored out to 2.7L from 2.2L.

As for the new fender some people say 08 some say 2010 i think land rover is keeping a lid on this as they know it will be as bigger launch as anything. Matt

WRONG AGAIN ACE - the TD5 is and was a Land Rover motor!!!

The only reason TD5 is being dropped is because it doesnt pass EURO4? polution levels.

As all Land Rover will be built in the UK - closure of Brazil and South Africa this will make production simpler!!!
