    I remembered a funny story about Hawke calling a pensioner a 'silly old bugger' after being bailed up by him in a shopping centre. Can you imagine a modern politician saying that?

    Way back in time when Hawkie was ACTU President I remember dad, a died in the wool Liberal voter saying that one day Bob would be the PM of Australia and he'd make a good one.
