My brother had an Aronde in the early sixties. Didn't stand up to outback roads. The Vedette was the much larger V8. As I recall, both had a two stage horn, as did my 1960 Citroen. I think they were compulsory in France around that time.

Probably the best thing for it.
Apparently leaving it in the car allows kids to play with it & set the car on fire. All of our vehicles had them removed from Day1 so not available to be fiddled with. Never needed one yet.[bighmmm]

I did start a fire with one once. Camp fire while waiting with a broken down car a long way from home up in the blue mountains. It wasn't my car. I was on my bike with a trout rod to be honest[thumbsupbig] Yep I shared my fish with them [biggrin]

Trout Rods broken in pieces over one's knee apparently make super barbecue fires. [bigrolf]

That one is still catching fish 37 years on Des. A little TLC was needed a few years ago.

This was a while ago and things change.

All bank tellers had a pistol in the bottom draw to use if a bank robber attempted a hold up. This was an insurance company requirement and was stopped by the police once people started to rob banks. They were worried a bank teller would actually use one and a customer would be hit. Gun fight at the bank not a good headline. Everyone had to do practice shoots with the pistols. The police were always asking when the next practice and could they come along as we had more ammunition to use in our practice than they did

Back in the 1950s/60s, when bank tellers delivered cheques and cash to other banks, my mate's mumwas always the armed escort. She was a championship pistol shooter.:rocket:

When cash was king the payroll on ships was ok, The Payroll at training bases was big at the time. ( So was the 6 Million Dollar man ) [biggrin]

The few QMGs with F1 Machine guns did worry me. They pull like a mule when fired. Point it at target and watch the spray!
