Google Cloud has deleted in error the $135 billion account and data for UniSuper, a retirement fund company that holds the superannuation savings for 647,000 members working at 37 Australian universities. Member funds and accounts were inaccessible for two weeks from May 2 to 15 while Google worked to recover and restore everything.

Maybe the plans were not as good as they thought. The back up facility was at the other end of the same building that had been destroyed.

Certainly not a bank, I worked for a bank and our backup site was about 30km's away on the other side of town and also in a basement. In those days the mag tapes would leave the main site at 6pm in a small delivery vehicle when I would leave work as we had to provide site coverage 6am to 6pm, as an electro/hvac/mech expert along with a mainframe tech and an auxiliary devices tech for tape readers and tape robot.Quote:
