This was a few years ago. A mate's wife bought herself a runabout shopping cart. A Holden Barina which she was more than happy with, reliable, economical, etc. Put it into the dealer for whatever k's service and a few days later the front was making a bad noise and dragging to one side. RACQ roadside service quickly determined that one brake pad was metal to metal and the other was almost. Service requires rotors be removed, wheel bearings cleaned and repacked. This was ticked off in the log book and on the service invoice. Towed it to RACQ inspection centre where a comprehensive report was provided clearly stating this work was not done nor were other items and the vehicle was left in an unroadworthy state.

Dealership, of course, denied all this until someone there realised my mate had done them over in court a few years before over refusing warranty claims on another vehicle. Oh! Oh! Grovel, grovel. So Sorry. won't happen again. Persons involved have beens sacked, etc.

“When my Defender was still under warranty I suspected some things on the service invoice were not being done.
When I challenged the service manager he said the work was carried out”

I had a similar experience on a new Td5 Defender. I told the stealers service manager of my own experience with machinery and showed where the fill plugs on diffs and g/box had not been removed even to check the levels.
They kept me hanging around while their “top mechanic” checked everything and I’ve never been back there except for a bit of warranty work.
Plus their charges are horrendous and I need the money for beer.

An air con shop manager told me there is usually a filter in air-cons which should be changed, but it rarely is because many workshops don't even know it is there.

On the Mazda CX-3 it is behind the Glove Box. Squeeze the GB sides & it is visible & accessible but on my olde D1 I don't know if it had one & never found it if there was as it may have been a bit too technical for the LR Design Team to incorporate..

There is no Barina with serviceable front wheel bearings.

Always a sneaky one to use to make the Customer feel guilty.

If he/she was they probably start back at work the following Monday.

After reading some of these stories I'm glad I don't let anyone touch any of my vehicles but me.

Well it has been 3 weeks now , I have made 3calls to dealer & been told some will ring me back, STILL WAITING.
I received a servery from Hyundai last week so filled that out with my thoughts , I will see what response that has. Also over the weekend received a servery from dealer asking if I would recommend to a friend. Have not filled out that one yet Will wait & see what this week brings.
We have another dealer 5 min down the road from us who I tried last year. The bar had a flat battery the morning I was to take it, after jump starting it took it to them & told them to fit a new battery as it was 3 years old but they rang me later to say there was nothing wrong with the battery & only needed charging. Next day car would not start so back to them . Couple of hrs later I get a call to tell me the battery had dropped a cell & needed replacing. I asked do you have a battery in stock ,YES car will be ready in 1hr we will call. 4hrs later I rang them to be told they didn't have a battery& were wailing for it to arrive. 7 hrs after dropping car off to them. So this is why we took it back to the dealer we bought it from who are 3/4 hrs drive from home & we have never had a problem with before.

A bit of an update, I just received a text message asking me were my car was as they had booked it in today to have a look at it. I rang them to say 1st I KNEW OF IT & that I could not get it there . WHAT IS IT WITH PEOPLE WHO CANT USE A PHONE & CAN ONLY SEND TEXT MESSAGES? it takes 20 text messages back & forward to say what you can say on the phone in less than 1/2 min. I think they are trying to make it look like they are looking after me only problem was they didn't tell me they had booked us in.
