Thread: Sadly I think "gone are the days of helping a fellow out"

I can already see my wife hiding pretending she doesn't know me. If I witnessed this sort of stuff. My immediate response would be an immediate .... VERY LOUD..... "HEY ASSHOLES, MOVE YOUR BLOODY FEET"

Me an political correctness go really well together Last year I witnessed some religious nut screaming abuse at a women handing out pamphlets out the front of Safeway... Everyone was just doing a big circle around them pretending they couldn't see.... You could tell she was absolutely terrified...

I have no idea what she was selling... I'm guessing something a nutty fundamentalist wouldn't like. So I gently pushed her out of the way and stood nose to nose with him (just like he was doing to her) and start screaming like a psychopath in his face how much I can't stand intolerant assholes .... especially if they are religious nutters... (ie: behaving exactly like he was towards her and being extremely threatening and bigger than he is ... ... Hey at least he wasn't female). Its a weird strange wonderful world we live in .. The guy suddenly decided his nutty religious point of views were not important and ran back to his car and left.

There is still good people out there ... Don't worry. Its just taking people until they are about 40years old these days to realise the world doesn't revolve around them (rather than 25 ... and a couple of kids like 20years back).

Still plenty of good people out there. Couple of years back I was found unconscious after coming off my push bike on a local path.
A person found me called 000, they left their details with ambos and followed up to see if I was OK in the following days. Yes there are aholes but there always has been.

We tend to remember the bad experiences more than the good.

The waiting area partly consists of a narrow passage with rows of seats where people face one another. One row of seats had moved slightly forward by a little bit. The wheel chair could not get through without running over the peoples feet. The pusher kept warning people to watch heir feet., but her requests were ignored. No one would get off the their bums to let her through, they squirmed and squiggled in their seats. If they had only stood up and walked a few paces away the wheel chair could get through .

After 1.5 hours of waiting, my name was called up, I had a lot of trouble getting up from the chair I was on, I struggled for about 30 seconds trying to stand up again, (I am physically limited) I could feel the eyes watching me. A little old lady probably about 80 was kind enough to hold my arm and said she would help me. As I stood up and gained my balance I looked saw all the people staring at me .
My Elderly mother had a bad fall walking to the local shops a few years ago, she smashed her head on the path and had bleeding and severe bruises, as she lay there a guy walking his dog walked around her , never offered aid or to see iif she was alright.
I've had a couple of falls recently, was unconscious on the last one, I wonder what would happen

Society sadly has definitely changed

Sad to hear that mate. I was in Geelong hospital yesterday- mum PET scan- on her not an animal While there I helped a gent with his phone call. Taking the phone to him and back after his call. My son went and swapped a book or two for the lady in the next bed. Staff helped my dad with parking and accommodation Big citys and Country types get a bit tricky. My niece and her other half helped find the car the night before! Four exits from a hospital can make orientation a bit tricky. I think the conversation in the four person shared room solved the problems of the entire world. ( If dementia had not only lost all those solutions damm it)

Occasionally tossing a HELP out is needed. Most of the time people do. Sorry to hear your having a rough trot.

I don't agree with the thread title

Recently I had a flat....so very rare for me.....and I was about to change it and was getting the gear out when another couple of vehicles pulled up. This was at the Mound Springs...the Bubbler near William Ck.

Blow me down if I didn't get elbowed out the way as these guys assisted (took over) and had the wheel changed out in minutes , everything put back in situ ,wished me luck and went on their way.

An hour or so later , at the William Ck caravan park , I lifted the tyre down .....it sits about head height when I'm loaded.....to have a look for the puncture....which I couldn't see....and a bloke and his lovely lady came over and offered some help.

He had a spray bottle of that air leak detector fluid , pumped my tyre up from a very well set up compressor with remote switch , sprayed the tyre and found the leak then proceeded to plug it with his own kit...no probs mate , happy to help you out he says. Wouldn't take anything.

He told me over a beer he and her were going on a Khati Thanda Lake flight at first light in the morning with Wright's Air.

I know Trevor Wright and spoke to him about the couple and he discounted their flight because they helped me.

So what happened within a few hours was 3 episodes "of helping a fellow out".... the days aren't gone by a long shot

I always pull up when someone is having dramas on the road and help people out where i can when at home/town.
Its all Karma and I believe that what comes around goes around

Obviously they hadn't seen the current TV Ad where the bloke stands up in a bus for a lil ole lady yelling out with some pride, "I can stand"' Bloke gets a round of applause.

When I first saw this add I asked myself,... "why did she get that far down the bus before someone gave her a seat?!?!!!"

Me too, CD2. Back in the days of yore (read. When I was a kid) it was quite a natural reaction to so do.


The elderly (male & Female), the infirm, expectant Mothers to be, all got my arse off the seat without a 2nd thought, it was just done. Especially for the long legged blonde sheila that got on at the last Bus/Tram Stop, smile or no smile.

Ah, the good olde days.
