    Hail damage and insurance companies

    Hi all,
Is the nrma still the only insurer who will insure a car with a existing hail damage?

I've often wondered that as there's still many cars around here in WA with dents from the 2010 really heavy hailstorm which have never been repaired. I don't know anyone who made a claim for it but do know a person not far from me who got 109K for storm damage to his house. It was more likely neglect but he has a way with him and the insureance adjusters were obviously intimidated by it.

AFAIK there are none that I know of who will insure.
There is a provision in NSW that the owner of the car can rerregister if it written off for hail damage.
My 2006 Jazz was written off last week by Youi and I was offered the wreck. It was very lightly Hail damaged , so light in fact I didn't notice it for 7 months!
They would not reinsure the car comprehensively.
A mate had his Terican written off in WA about 10 years ago and still drives .

One won't be able to get comprehensive, but might get balance of 3rd party, and maybe even "agreed value" which obviously will be a lot lower than book value.
