Saxon were on Zillmere Rd, they also made nails, wheelbarrows and cement mixers IIRC.
Does anyone remember Braemar and Saxon hot water systems and other items made in Brisbane? I can't find any mention of them other than Braemar appears to be a brand name of and Adelaide company, Seeley. Saxon had a modern brick factory in Brookes and Wickham Sts. Fortitude Valley opposite the police HQ and Braemar were made in one of the sheds in the former USN barracks in Lamington St. New Farm. Most of the barracks were converted into Housing Commission flats. Both firms moved out to the Zillmere-Geebung areas by my recall. Anyone remember what happened to them? Dad bought a Braemar electric HWS in 1950 for our house in New Farm. Had a gas bath heater and copper before that. The Braemar was still working perfectly in 1985 when mum sold to move into a unit.
Edit - Found Saxon. Sachs Industries went into voluntary liquidation in 2011 caused by the decline in sales of solar hot water systems in favour of rooftop solar electricity.

Ian, they made all sorts of things for over 120 years. Apparently they saw their future as being in solar hot water and committed to that. Along came rooftop photovoltaic panels and changes in government rebates which cused a great decline in the sales of solar HWS. They moved from the Valley to a new factory in Zillmere in 1968.

They would've been flooded out in '74.

We had a Braemar, commonly called; Solid Fuel HWS, in later years on our dairy farm in WA. It replaced a huge open wood fired copper. How some body was never killed with that thing is beyond me!(the copper)Does anyone remember Braemar and Saxon hot water systems and other items made in Brisbane?
They were low pressure only and I think it had a "shepherds crook" type of expansion vent stuck up through the roof, although it may just of had a relief valve. Was very efficient from what I recall and used a lot less wood than the big copper.

When they were on Zillmere Rd (opposite Muller) in the early/mid 70s, if memory serves me correctly, they traded as Saxon Industries.

Ian, when they were in the Valley they traded as E.Sachs & Co. At Zillmere the name was changed to Peter Sachs Industries which was the company that went into voluntary liquidation. I wonder what happened to the bronze statue of the Saxon warrior that was their symbol. Someone told me it was supposed to be the god Thor.
The Brookes St. gate at the Valley factory had a sign warning against taking a semi-trailer in there as there were two tight turns in the yard.
Does anyone know what happened to Braemar?
