New book about Australia’s icebreaking ship Aurora Australis

I came across this in the latest edition of the Australian Antarctic Newsletter, it is a new book about the 30 years of Antarctic service for Australia’s icebreaking ship Aurora Australis. New book brings icebreaker legacy to life — Australian Antarctic Division. I think it could be an interesting read. Well it'll be different anyhow.

Interesting post, thanks Spudfan. I worked for P&O during the 1970's and stood by the construction of oil rig tenders at Carrington Slipways 2 years in a row. They built a whole fleet of rig tenders, all called "Lady (woman's name) after P&O directors wives. Best time in my life!

I worked alongside Lady Gay, Lady Caroline and a few others in Bass Strait over the years. Had a photo I took of Lady Gay punching into a 10m swell coming alongside DB Polaris in 80 kts of wind to pick up a new static towline. Waves over monkey island with seamen on back deck waiting to pick up tow. Sold a few thousand $$ of that photo - then had photo store lose the negative. Gutted I was

I regularly buy books from Book Depository, so I ordered this one. It just arrived; it is NOT a book, but a bloody CD! Yes, looking again it does say CD on their Website, if you look closely! BS!
