    Paddock warranty- am I unreasonable?

    I’m looking for general feedback.
I have been buying heaps from Paddock over the last couple of years - and recon I’m only half way there!
Just over a year ago I was doing the axles and bought a whole lot of gear - including a kit with all the 4x slave cylinders, brake shoe springs, shoes etc....
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I finally got the pedal towers in and bled the brakes. Couldn’t get them firm enough so left it until the morning. In the morning there was brake fluid everywhere! One of the front cylinders had leaked and emptied the master cylinder!
Long story short - after a week Paddock offered to send out a kit so I could replace the rubbers. I said I would prefer a new slave cylinder as that’s what I bought but they dug their heels in and said it was out of warranty and basically that was their only offer. The slave cylinder is only about £6.00 so it has become a matter of principle!
Am I being unreasonable as it was the first time I had tested it? Now what about all the other products I have installed?
I have been restoring vehicles for 35 years and never come across anything like this. Also, no one ever apologised for the unholy mess etc - just couldn’t have cared less.
    Your thoughts?

bit to long I reckon, if you are buying more items, maybe through another new one in the order as a good will. to sent over a single item would cost more than the goods.
    Interesting to see others thoughts

Look at it from their point of view - you bought it a long time ago by the sounds of it and didn’t install it - they don’t know what conditions you’ve stored it in so I think their offer is quite reasonable to be honest.

It’s always worth asking the question as you’ve done, you never know.

Also, I personally wouldn’t by 6 quid wheel cylinders, they’ll always be prone to doing that IMO... Spend your money on decent ones - they are out there but you’ll need to sift through the rubbish to find them.

Overly optimistic to expect warranty after such a long period of time.

I think you are correct but you need to be pragmatic and just take the offer.

In my experience with buying wheel cylinders are that they are crap anyway and will soon leak as they are made out of cheap metal and rubber these days - I now buy cheap and get them sleeved with stainless steel and they last forever.

There is nothing you can do in reality - if possible I try to buy locally (I know it is cheaper overseas) so that stuff can go back if there is an issue - and there always is with repro stuff.

Thanks guys - that is the advice I expected. Its what I would have given if I wasn’t the one with a puddle of brake fluid!
    Thanks again.

I can really see their side, I guess it was disappointing that’s all.

But if I had been Paddocks I would have checked your purchase history and given you a freebie just ot keep you happy and coming back - it doesn't take much.

I have rarely bought from them but increasingly I have heard stories like yours and as a result they would now be my provider of last resort.

    Have you tried Roverlord?
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
