Getting small lpg bottles recertified isn’t generally cost effective. It’s usually better to buy new bottles.
Cheers,

I have a couple of small Primus LPG Bottles with a top opening, that are out of date, and I am having trouble finding a company that will recertify them, here on the Sunshine Coast. Can anyone help me? The bottles are in excellent condition and one was made by Primus Sweden.

Got a set of number punches? Screw the valve out, fit a new o-ring. Primus bottles were well made and it is rare for one to have internal rust like Asian made bottles. Bog up the old numbers, sand down and a spray can of blue paint. All done.

Hello again.
Yes the earlier Australian and Swedish made bottles were generally better than the cheaper Asian manufactured bottles. My Companion bottles were Swedish Sievert who also, I think, made the Primus bottles. There was a crowd in Moama manufacturing bottles at one time which occasionally were sold through Kmart under their Kookaburra brand. However, I would think that has long since not been the case.
Pretty much Hobson’s choice these days. Actually between Swap and Go for the bbq and the relative price of the imported bottles I tend to throw away the remaining bottles when the servos won’t fill them any more.
Cheers,
Neil
I had one done years ago by a LPG place at Nambour,, behind the Stihl shop..
no idea if they still do it or are even there...

Make an adaptor up and fill then from a swap and go bottle placed upside down. Yes, I’ll get ‘flamed’ for this (like the pun ? 😉 ) but contrary to popular belief you won’t spontaneously combust doing this... 😁
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
After 25 years in the LPG industry ( and, yes I do fill small bottles that way - but with a deadman gun) I urge anyone doing this to be ultra careful, especially regards static electricity. I am more nervous doing this than using my 9" angle grinder & that scares the **** out of me...
My 101 LPG tank has three Bunnings 8.5kg swap and go bottles in it - all done as suggested above - only difference to increase the pressure differential between the two tanks I heated up the swap and go bottles in the shower at a temp that is comfortable for your skin - that way the LPG tank sucks in all the gas from the Swap and Go bottles - no leaky gas but you need to wear gloves to stop cold burns and have things like ventilation and fire appliances nearby as well.
For small bottles like propane torches I have a suitable adaptor (from ebay) and use a smaller gas bottle to fill from.
