Thread: Closure of Orange CDMA Network

I have always been with telstra so wouldnt know.

But regarding the closure of teltras CDMA network i was of the understanding that the new network G7 or GS3 or some crap like that would be a single network nationwide and would utilise both the existing CDMA and Digital towers so as to not affect the coverage that people have. Several new phones on the market now are already prepped for this new network. I think the new network starts the day after the last CDMA contract runs out in a couple of years. Matt

CDMA will still be operational until 2008.

The new network will provide the same footprint as the exsiting CDMA network as it will be using the same towers, frequency and in most cases antennas.

While the cells may contract slightly depending on the number of simultaneous users, all things being equal, the coverage footprint will remain the same (which is bloody enormous >1.5m sq km, compared with approx 500,000 sq km for the next largest network).
