I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

Bob, this is an absolute tragedy. Two youngsters have died in the Victorian high country.

The area in which this has occurred is very steep and difficult to traverse but outstandingly beautiful which makes visiting it very rewarding experience. Unfortunately not in this case. This region and in particular the Trig Track is in an area that I'm very familiar with. I 'cut my teeth' in 4WD'ing here in my old Series IIA back in the '70's, well before the Thompson dam became a reality which shut down most of the area for 4WD'ing.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family's of both the 'kids'. 4WD'ing in the high country can be a very rewarding on the edge experience. Fortunately this couple were able to experience this, unfortunately they have not survived this experience.

This is the downside of the reality of 'having a go' and getting out there to experience the beauty this region offers in a harsh and dangerous environment.

There will be plenty of armchair warriors out there who will second guess what has happened here but to me the reality is that they were out there having a go enjoying the beauty in a very challenging environment but died in this pursuit.

" There but for the grace of God go I "

My heartfelt sympathy's go to both family's.

    Hi Bob,

Did you decide on the title of your Thread, or is it something you read from a paper?

I ask, because this is a horrible and tragic stuff up by the young bloke, with his Mrs, out on a planned camping weekend.

The title of this Thread wreaks of some tabloid trash headline...

Straight forward and to the point. It's the way I roll. I understand the tragic consequences , and feel for them & their friends & family. Do you have anything worthwhile to add, as regards to the area?

We've done some of the deep creek tracks and its certainly a challenging drive. I don't think we drove the trig track so can't comment on that particular track. When we were heading in there was a D2a that had rolled being loaded on a tilt tray that was a sobering reminder of what could go wrong. I suspect that bad luck played a significant role in this tragedy and that it could probably happen to any of us.

    Condolences to all involved

    Hi Bob,

I could entertain you with hours of "worthwhile" information about the area.

How you haven't been canned by the mods for trolling is beyond me.

    How's the "Walrus Club" going??
Your special little area not cutting it for you?

Maybe keep your trashy tabloid bs focus to your own special place mate.

"Straight forward and to the point".
    You sicken me.
I hear Sky News calling your name mate.

From what I have heard, they were on a seasonally closed track, that was closed. It's a real tragedy, I feel for their families.

Just a heartbreak for all involved, first on the scene will be in need of some help I would hazard a guess.
Never been personally, planning to after years of hearing how beautiful it is, but ready to bite down hard if experience or preparation isn't up to scratch.
I do hope that this tragedy doesnt turn into a media circus about locking up tracks for people's own safety bla bla ... if it WAS a closed track, then even worse for the whole situation and all involved, especially family and friends...😫

My condolence to the families, friends and those involved in the search.

    Bob,
A little respect would have been appropriate in your opening post.
You’ll never visit the area so your concern isn’t justified.
I’ve reported this thread as I concider it a troll post.
    Cheers, Kyle
