    I had a few of this type, the did rattle on start up and when they got old, but I never noticed any going backwards. I found them to be quite weak so I think they could easily be affected by back draft.

    I replaced one in the garage with a strong (300L/s?) one and it can actually suck the internal door to the house closed.
