I grew up on a grain farm in the Wimmera - we’ve been in the area since the 1860s, before the selection Acts so our farm has been in the family for quite a while now. Most of my siblings work in the Ag business, and I do a fair bit of advice in that area. So, I’m not some random city person.
Whilst it may be different elsewhere I can’t think of any of our neighbours who have $80k utes, and if we’re going to tow a field bin we use a tractor. And a couple of my siblings do “heavy work”, including fire control and they all drive work Hiluxes. I wonder if you’re confusing contractors with farmers?
This stuff about how the farmers all drive flash cars is a variant of the rubbish I’ve been hearing since I was a kid - rich farmers, flash cars and then in the next breath something about taxpayer funding - problem is that those stories - from people who have no connection with the land - really doesn’t line up with my lived experience or the statistics on farm income.
One of the reasons Land Cruiser works so well in Australia, is the input Australian engineers had in its development, and the amount of testing done in this country. You could almost say they were tailor made for Australian conditions. Unlike some other new vehicles, which seem to be tailor made for the rich middle class [ place country here].
How Australia shaped the legendary Toyota LandCruiser
The average size of the farms in the Wimmera area is only 880Ha ( a bit over 2000 acres) so they are only small by comparison to the farms here in the West and are absolutely Tiny compared to the stations here in the West and the NT/Qld.
Things are done on a larger scale on the bigger farms and stations and that is why a great many of them run Landcruiser's and Big Nissan utes here.
There is absolutely Nothing wrong with the Hilux utes other than their carrying capacity and towing ability, This is where the Landcruiser and Big Nissan utes "Shine".
It has absolutely Nothing whatsoever to do with simply having a "Flash" car, Many of the Farmers/Pastoralists in the West choose a Landcruiser because it is the better option to the smaller 4cyl utes with their small load carrying and weaker towing ability.

Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series
I stated earlier (Somewhere[biggrin]) that I would always prefer a 'Cruiser 'tilly.
I'm not sure now?

Given its size and power (and going by Russian crash videos), it looks like the perfect vehicle for Russian traffic!
great video, had a look at his other videos, really good, I see he managed to avoid the corrupt traffic police...
known back in the day by their intials ГАИ
I remember they would pull you up, say you are drunk, blow into this machine and it always changed colour................ indicating alcohol and a demand of a bribe would come, it got so bad people were actaully bring ing own machines or demand another test, they had the machines setup to always change the colour and so get a bribe. An old russian/soviet Joke , the new ГАИ man was called to the commander and asked why hadn,t he collected his offical pay, he replied I thought I just got my pay out on the street, I already have brought a new BMW in 3 months...why do I need paying!!!
Landcruisers are not that popular overseas.
