D3 has in integrated tow hitch which is part of the chassis and you cannot change it.

    Trick looking bit of gear...

But Disco 3..... 2 spares on swing arms on steel rear bar... the bullbar ... plus extra 110 litres fuel tank

You'd be up and over the 3 tonne mark before you tart to pack
    There goes the GVM

I disagree MArk. Have a look at my post on GVM. The D3 has a load capacity of 800kg.

    Well do the rough math...

    D3 payload 800kg

    -bullbar 60kg
    -rearbar 60kg
    -2nd spare 30kg
    -110l LR fuel tank(full) 140kg

    thats 290, leaving 510kg

Sumo driver eg me = 140kg
    Diminutive wife = 60kg
    2 kids @ 45kg each = 90kg
    Fridge & food = 50kg

    510-340 = 170kg left to play with

    Damn close!!!! But doable.

My defender runs to 2600kg with 1/4 tank, no fridge, no fat ballast (me)

Ready to roll shes well over 3.2t

My sums where similar to Mikes... only I saved 32Kg in the drivers seat

I think you would manage to stay under GVM with some care.... but 800kg plus a D3 is still a heavy bit of gear!!

I ran into a guy last year at Coward Springs (Just south of William Creek). He was whinging he had blown 3 tyres on the disco 3.... his problem as I could see it was too higher tire pressures with 4 adults a disco 3 loaded chockers to the roof plus a roof rack full of gear. ... he must have been near or over GVM.... putting so much more pressure on those tiers to perform.

Jamo - don't think I'm knocking the Disco 3.... I reckon they are awsome... but with all that gear on board..... not sure I'd want to dig one out of a soft Robe beach!!!!

    Cheers, Mark
