I don't think there was a four door version. Those wheels were exclusive to the LE.

Yes you are correct,not a Monaro,just an LE,only 2 door.
When we lived at Waterford, the guy across the road had a HQ two door, immaculate, original, pressed metal wheels,V8,4 speed, white.
Wouldn’t let his wife wash it,yet alone drive it
Funny thing though he was a brickie, sold the V8 one tonner, all brickies had in those days.
Replaced it with a 130 TDi.
He also used to tow this huge 4 wheeled trailer around most days.
Anyway, fuel bill dropped to a third of what it was,but as he said every move driving had to be well planned way ahead,as the bloody thing couldn’t pull the skin off rice pudding
Last time I saw him he was on Moreton island having a ball in it.
Its interesting to contrast the difference between the LE and the Cobra, both were marketing specials to unload the remainder of Holden and Fords stock of two door bodyshells. The Cobra is instantly recoginisable and brings stupid money, probably due to being assiciated with Bathurst, but the LE took a different route and went with luxury as the bait and wasn't (and isnt) such a good seller. Most of those LEs in the carsales link above represent pretty good value IMHO.

I think the genuine Cobras were only available with a three oh two.

No, they were available with both a 351 and a 302, manual and auto. there were a small batch of 351 manuals that had a few extra mods such as kicked inwards rear frame rails to allow race tyres to be fitted but it was a very small number I believe.

All you ever wanted to know about Cobras and a very interesting insight into the benefits that production car racing brings to collectors of performance cars. There were 30 "special" cobras.

As you can see I am a Pommie tragic. First 8 cars i have owned at some stage and all had their strengths and weaknesses, but I had a ball driving each and every one of them. The last 2 are because I am older and want something that is comfortable and/or safe and fast.

Add to my list in Post 9- A 1976 Cadillac Biarritz. The last of the big cruisers. 500 cubic inch and front wheel drive.
I couldn't enjoy most of the cars you guys have listed. They are so prized and worth so much money you could never drive and enjoy them (certainly it would be bloody difficult to stop them being stolen). I'm pretty happy with the ****boxes I have at the moment. I have a few old (real) Citroens and a range rover classic.
Muscle cars I couldn't drive in this country without going insane (as you can't use the power). A big old american cruiser would be bloody hideous but heaps of fun.
There is so many fun cars I could own ... but realistically I don't have the time to work on the car I have right now. I haven't driven one of the Citroens in 8months.... and probably wont until the ****box rangie breaks down (at which point I'll be in the shed at 3:00am desperately trying to get one of the citroens running again)..... They all run and drive, but need a million and one minor (aggravating) jobs done to them --lots of split/old return lines and suspension boots.
