Gday everyone
Been a lurker for several months but first time poster and potentially a first time LR D4 owner in a couple of days
This forum has been great for research in finding out what to look.
I've been on the look out for a D4 SDV6 and organised a test drive yesterday on one which had 180k km. I was skeptical and not overly keen beforehand, but after I drove it, I was surprised at how clean the engine drove/sounded and in no way showed body/under body wear and tear for a car of that many km. It has all the service records performed right smack bang when they were due, all done by LR dealership (noting that many on this site believe that 24k service interval is too long, I'll definitely be doing 6 month checkups if I buy it). I was told they were mostly highway km (which again I was skeptical), however service dealership is about 4-5 hr drive away so it seems plausible.
Basically from what I can physically see and the record history, this cars in great condition.
Not sure if I've overthinking it, but for my sanity, I just wanted to get some opinions whether it is too good to be true? Or if it speaks more to the importance of regular servicing?
As far as I can see on this forum, if LR are serviced correctly and well looked after, they can have good longevity (not discounting the odd frustration here and there), and not sure if I've stumbled on a great car or having the wool pulled over me?
Happy to get peoples thoughts! Thank you

Hi
180k is fine. When you drive it change down the gears (all of them) and up again. Put in in low range and to check it does go into low. Again go though the gears.
Also does it brake in a straight line? Wind down the windows and listen for any noises that should not be there. Is the steering OK, does it feel OK? i.e. vibrations. Press the buttons to raise and lower the vehicle, have someone else outside look to see it raise and lower OK.
Step on a wheel and look at the roof - no hail damage?
Get under it and look for any obvious damage. Open the bonnet and look to see if its clean and tidy. You prob won't see anything wrong there as it's so complicated.
Get an NRMA or MTA inspection. They may well find a few things as they will have a good check underneath and as well **they are mechanics**.
I have a 2013 SDV6 D4 (second hand) and its wow! It had 130k when I got it.

Hi Mike
Thank you for the response. Very glad you're enjoying the SDV6 :-)
Thankfully I did all the things you listed. I raised and lowered the suspension a couple of time and put it in low range and it went in ok but didn't go through the gears unfortunately - you have given me something else to do!
And yes I'm thinking an independent check over by a mechanic would be a good as well to be 100%.
With your SDV6 have you kept to the LR service intervals or done intermittent ones? I plan on having this car for a while and wondering if 6months would be worth it in the long run.
Cheers
Get it looked at by a good Indy, most general mechanics don’t know much about them.
Someone may chime in with one in your area.
As forvservices mine goes once a year to a good Indy, whether it has done 8000km or 15000.
Ours is a low mileage vehicle, does mainly long runs,as we have company vehicles.
Hi
I get mine serviced at an indy every 10,000 km or there abouts. That for me is a bit less than 6 months. I dont stick to the 10k rigidly, it might stretch to 12,000 occasionally.
